The Client


ConocoPhillips is the global leader in independent exploration and production of oil and natural gas. With operations in 30 countries, ConocoPhillips is active in a variety of geologic and geographic areas. The company applies emerging technologies to find and deliver products that improve the quality of life globally and enable economic development. 

The Situation

Following the split from Phillips 66, ConocoPhillips needed an upgraded website and digital presence that emphasized its focus on the global market and exploration of production space. It was essential this enhanced brand and market presence be integrated among all of the existing digital channels. The new site must also support the company’s key recruitment efforts, provide a portal for investors and pertinent investor news, deliver information on industry issues and support a crisis situation as needed.

The Challenge

The new ConocoPhillips site must communicate with several audiences, ranging from investors to consumers and global employees. As an established firm in a mature market, the site also had to simplify the complexity of information housed in the original site. Therefore, the CMS had to be one that enabled users to manage workflow in a collaborative environment. The project timeline, from concept to execution, was also compressed.

The Emerging Technology

Triple-I, in concert with its alliance partner VML, applied SharePoint to create and deliver a sophisticated site. It is rare for companies to use this platform as a consumer-facing tool; however, the team selected SharePoint for its robust CMS capabilities.

The Solution

Triple-I applied innovative code and emerging development trends to create and deliver this consumer-facing SharePoint site. The new website included the following tools that now allow ConocoPhillips to better engage with its audience: accessible navigation menus from all pages; sophisticated overlay modal layout; sleek style and typography; collapsible content boxes and navigation; and content widgets that display particular information, such as stock prices, for respective pages. The new website also contains strong imagery to evoke emotion and captivate users.

The Result

Triple-I, in concert with its alliance partner VML, applied emerging technology to create the new ConocoPhillips site. Though the road map contained complex elements, the solution is simple and contains an intuitive user interface, enhancing the user experience for consumers, investors and global staff. Triple-I transformed SharePoint from a collaboration intranet into a dynamic consumer-facing site.
